Bio 

Catherine E. Steding, Ph.D., serves as an assistant professor of biochemistry in the Tom and Julie Wood College of Osteopathic Medicine where she teaches concepts in biochemistry as well as molecular biology and genetics to both graduate and osteopathic medical students. Prior to joining the SA国际传媒 team, she earned her doctorate at Indiana University School of Medicine where she also went on to complete a T32 Postdoctoral Fellowship in the Department of Medical and Molecular Genetics. She has served in multiple faculty roles teaching students ranging from undergraduates to doctoral candidates. 
 
Throughout her career, she has emphasized building new opportunities for students and finding innovative ways to support them both academically and professionally. During her early career at Indiana State University, she successfully created new academic programs and later served as the founding director of the Rich and Robin Porter Cancer Research Center. She brought her expertise and talents to SA国际传媒 in 2021 and has continued to emphasize working with others to further student professional development. She currently serves the broader Marian community as one of the scholars-in-residence for the Scholarly Learning Communities Initiative.

Teaching Philosophy 

Dr. Steding believes no student should feel as though STEM concepts are beyond their comprehension, particularly when they have the desire and commitment necessary to learn. She believes her role as a teacher is to facilitate learning by making the topics relatable to a diverse audience. Her goal is to generate an environment that builds trust and informs the learner that, no matter their level or expertise, they are embarking on a journey with both guidance and support.
